CTD kills 5 BLA terrorists in Mastung operation

LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Balochistan killed five terrorists in a major operation in the Dasht area of Mastung district.

The slain terrorists, affiliated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), were reportedly planning attacks on security forces and to block the Quetta-Sibi highway.

According to the CTD spokesperson, intelligence reports indicated that armed BLA militants were present in Dasht, intending to sabotage the highway and attack civilian and security targets. CTD teams swiftly reached the area and began surveillance.

Encounter with terrorists

The terrorists opened indiscriminate fire upon spotting CTD personnel, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire. During the operation, five unidentified militants were killed, while others escaped using the difficult mountainous terrain.

Weapons and explosives were recovered, including five sub-machine guns with ammunition, seven hand grenades, and three motorcycles.

The CTD has launched a search and combing operation in the area to apprehend the escaped terrorists and dismantle the rest of the network. The bodies of the slain militants have been shifted to the hospital, and a case is being registered at the CTD police station.
