ISLAMABAD, Apr 02 Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has selected a three-member squad to represent Pakistan in the upcoming Davis Cup Juniors, scheduled to be held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, from May 16 to 24.
The selection trials were conducted at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad from March 30 to April 2, where 12 top-ranked junior players from across the country competed for places in the national team. The players were shortlisted based on their recent performances and national rankings.
Promising youngster Abubakar Talha was granted direct selection and exempted from the trials in recognition of his outstanding recent performances on the circuit.
Following the conclusion of the trials, the selected team comprises Abubakar Talha, Hassan Usmani and Zohaib Afzal Malik.
PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Secretary General Col. (r) Zia-ud-din Tufail and other officials congratulated the selected players and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver strong performances at the international event.
The federation also extended its best wishes to the players and their families, hoping the team would make the country proud in the prestigious junior competition.
