ISLAMABAD, October 23, 2025:
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar attended the 80th anniversary celebration of the United Nations as the Chief Guest at a ceremony hosted by the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team in Islamabad.
In his address, Senator Dar underscored the urgent need to restore global trust and cooperation at a time of mounting instability, inequality, and climate challenges. He emphasized that the world today requires collective action, renewed faith in multilateralism, and a reinvigorated commitment to the founding principles of the United Nations.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and comprehensive UN reform, highlighting the importance of justice and durable solutions for long-standing disputes such as Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, which remain central to achieving lasting global peace.
Senator Dar noted that as Pakistan prepares to serve as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (2025–26), it will continue to advocate for peace, dialogue, and sustainable development, while supporting a reformed, inclusive, and people-centered United Nations.
The event marked eight decades of the UN’s contributions to global peace, development, and cooperation, with diplomats, UN officials, and representatives from civil society and the media in attendance.
