LAHORE, JUN 02 (DNA) — Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha has dismissed rumours circulating on social media about him unfollowing star batter and his predecessor Babar Azam on Instagram, asserting he “never followed” the latter on the photo-sharing app in the first place.
Speaking at a press conference after Sunday’s match against Bangladesh, Agha was asked about screenshots suggesting he had unfollowed a teammate — fueling speculation of a rift between the two cricketers. “I have never followed Babar Azam on Instagram, so why should I unfollow him? People keep saying things like this,” the skipper said, while refuting the claims.
Instead, he emphasised the long-standing friendship between the two. “Babar has been my school friend since 2008. At that time, there was not much social media. People just think that I unfollowed Babar. There is nothing like that. I had spoken to Babar before the match. We just laugh at all these things,” he said.
The captain’s comments came after Pakistan’s convincing seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh, which secured a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20 series. A dominant performance by the Pakistani side as they chased down Bangladesh’s target of 197 runs in the 18th over.
Mohammad Haris was the hero of the chase, remaining unbeaten on 107 runs, while Mohammad Haris contributed 45.Earlier in the press conference, Agha expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly that of the young cricketers. “It is very happy that the young cricketers performed, we have to see how we have to play cricket, provide entertainment to the fans,” he remarked. —DNA
