Distt admin takes landmark step to promote reading culture

KHANEWAL, Dec 17 (APP/DNA):In a significant initiative to encourage reading habits among citizens, the District Administration has started establishing open-air libraries in various parks across the district.

The project was inaugurated in Kabirwala by Deputy Commissioner Khanewal Maliha Rashid along with MPA Asghar Hayat Haraj. They visited the open-air library set up in Zargham Shaheed Park, where they reviewed the availability of books, seating arrangements, and other facilities.

Under this initiative, citizens can borrow books and return them after reading, making knowledge easily accessible in a relaxed outdoor environment. The libraries were being established to attract children towards reading from an early age and to promote positive learning activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid said that open-air libraries would provide a calm and pleasant atmosphere for study and would play an important role in developing reading habits among the younger generation.

MPA Asghar Hayat Haraj stated that the Punjab Government was committed to promoting a reading culture and spreading educational awareness at the grassroots level.

Assistant Commissioner Kabirwala Rana Aamir Liaqat and Chief Officer Iftikhar Bangash were also present during the visit.

Citizens appreciated the initiative and termed the open-air libraries a positive step towards educational and social development.
