ECP gears up for elections

ISLAMABAD, OCT 17: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is gearing up for the upcoming general elections. ECP Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on Tuesday presided over the meeting in Karachi. The electoral watchdog had taken a detailed review of the preparations for elections in Sindh.

According to the declaration issued by the ECP, the ECP CEC said: “The transparent and impartial elections will turn out to be vital for democracy. Those who show negligence in the election process will face strict action.”

The Sindh chief secretary had assured to ensure the implementation of the ECP orders and facilitate the polling stations.

The Quick Response Force (QRF) will also be alerted in case of any untoward incident.

The Sindh IG said 110,334 police personnel will perform security duties in the general polls.

– ECP issues list of 174 political parties to contest election –

The ECP on Thursday issued a list of 174 political parties, including the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), ahead of the general elections.

In 2018, 154 political parties took part in the general elections. After 2018, 24 new political parties came into existence.

The IPP had been placed on the 174th number in the ECP registration list. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had been ranked in the 83rd position, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had been placed in the 90th position.

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) had been placed on the 31st number, while the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) had been placed on the 34th number.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had been listed in 100th place.
