KARACHI, JUN 09 (DNA) – Engro Fertilizers Limited, Pakistan’s premier seed-to-harvest solutions provider, has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with MNS University of Agriculture, Multan, to establish and develop Engro Learning Center at the institute’s campus.
Nadir S. Qureshi, CEO of Engro Fertilizers, and Dr. Asif Ali, Vice Chancellor of MNS University of Agriculture, signed the MoC in a virtual ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by the Management team of Engro Fertilizers and the faculty of MNS University of Agriculture. Under the agreement, the Company will identify and conduct research and development projects involving the academia and student body, and support capacity-building of the university’s students through various internship programs.
Speaking on the occasion, Nadir Qureshi, said that, “Engro Fertilizers is committed to bridging the gap between industry and academia to modernize and transform our agricultural landscape. Engro Learning Center shall InshAllah prove to be a step change in our joint efforts to enable farmers with knowledge about modern farming practices and technology that can help boost farm productivity and improve the food security of Pakistan.”
Amir Iqbal, Chief Commercial Officer of Engro Fertilizers, added that this partnership will enhance the skills of young agrarians and support the development of new technologies to provide sustainable “seed to harvest solutions” to the farmers. Thus, the farmers will be able to grow by improving their profitability and crop output to make Pakistan more food secure.
Professor Dr. Asif Ali stated that, “There is a clear need to strengthen academia-industry linkage to commercialize technologies and conduct joint outreach programs for benefit of the farming community. I would like to thank Engro Fertilizers for stepping forward to promote innovative technologies and playing an active role in the transformation of country’s agricultural sector.”
Before this collaboration, Engro Fertilizers has also partnered with the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), to establish and develop Engro Learning Center and a model farm at the UAF campus. = DNA
