RAWALPINDI: /DNA/ – The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has urged the government that through green financing, environmental challenges can be effectively addressed. It should be made possible to obtain soft terms and interest-free loans from banks for the installation of solar systems in offices and industries. While talking to Imran Hameed, Director General, Environment Department, Punjab, in a Zoom meeting Saqib Rafiq informed that RCCI is the first Chamber in Pakistan who adopted the Green Building concept and implemented the Green Initiatives at Chamber. RCCI is the First-Ever Green Chamber of Pakistan by installing Rainwater Harvesting and Recharge System and Solar Panels at chamber building aiming to promote green culture among the community.
Saqib Rafiq said that as cities grow and the demand for energy increases due to the expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Large Scale Industry, solar is an important source of clean and green energy supply. He said that the chamber also has ISO 14001 certification, and it is also playing its role in policy advocacy for the promotion of green energy across the country.
DG EPA appreciated the RCCI efforts for implementing the Green Building Concept.
