Erdogan makes declaration of support for Pakistani nation

ANKARA, MAY 13: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made an unequivocal declaration of support for the Pakistani people amid heightened regional tensions.

Addressing a meeting of the Turkish Cabinet, President Erdogan expressed satisfaction over the ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He stated that Türkiye has consistently maintained a clear stance on the brutal terrorist attacks in Kashmir and the missile strikes on Pakistan.

President Erdogan emphasised that Türkiye had made tireless efforts to help de-escalate the extremely dangerous tensions between the two countries.

He revealed that he had spoken with his brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a phone call during which important matters were discussed. “I once again congratulate our Pakistani brothers on their patience, resilience, and wise approach,” he added.

Erdogan advised all parties to avoid provocation, stressing the importance of restraint.

He expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for resolving all outstanding issues, particularly those related to water.

Erdogan he reaffirmed Türkiye’s steadfast commitment: “God willing, Türkiye will continue to stand with the brotherly Pakistani nation in both good and difficult times.”
