ISLAMABAD: The European Union has decided to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), known as Pasdarane Inqilab, as a terrorist organization.
The decision comes amid mounting pressure from the United States, which has long urged Europe to take a tougher stance against Tehran.
EU officials cited the IRGC’s alleged involvement in widespread human rights violations, including violent crackdowns on protesters and the killing of Iranian citizens.
The move marks a significant escalation in Europe’s policy toward Iran, potentially deepening tensions between Tehran and Western powers while signaling solidarity with Washington’s approach to the regime.
