Federal Cabinet Approves Amendments to Defence Forces Act 2026 and National Command Authority Act 2010

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the federal cabinet today in Islamabad.

The cabinet approved the draft of the Defence Forces Act 2026, prepared in continuation of the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The purpose of this legislation is to define administrative matters related to the office of the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters.

Following cabinet approval, the draft will be presented to the ongoing session of Parliament for final endorsement.

The federal cabinet also approved amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010, a necessary step after the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The revised draft will likewise be tabled before Parliament for approval.
