The Honorary Consulate in Karachi celebrated 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Austria

KARACHI: The Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan attended the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of Austria along with the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Austria hosted by Dr. Hussain Islam Honorary Consul for the Republic of Austria in Sindh and Balochistan on Friday.

In an inaugural first consular presence in Pakistan’s southern region, with the intent to cater to the needs of Sindh and Balochistan, both key provinces in Pakistan’s economic and industrial landscape, Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan embraced this occasion.
Attending the event as the Chief Guest, the Minister expressed his beauty over the auspicious occasion.
He extended his utmost gratitude to Mrs. Andrea Wicke the Ambassador for Austria in Pakistan, and Dr. Hussain Islam for extending the honour.
“The consulate will play an important role in extending Pakistan’s economic and future trade with Austria. With a jurisdiction over both Sindh and Balochistan, this diplomatic initiative will be very lucrative for the bilateral relations for both countries,” expressed Mr. Jam Kamal.
While addressing the business community attendees in the audience, he discussed the issue of tariff rationalisation that is being undertaken by the Federal Government for the first time. He expressed that this initiative by the Prime Minister would enable commerce activity within the country as well as with all their trade and diplomatic partners.
The Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan concluded his address by thanking the Ambassador, for her vision and continued efforts to bring Pakistan and Austria together. He expressed his confidence in witnessing greater cooperation across trade, education, tourism, climate technology, and other vital areas.
The inaugural event was attended by Mrs. Andrea Wicke, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Hussain Islam Honorary Consul for the Republic of Austria in Sindh and Balochistan, Bishop of Karachi, Patron and Chief of Pakistan Sikh Council along with several esteemed personalities.
