DHAKA, MAY 8: Bangladesh reached 201-3 at tea after recovering from early setbacks in the opening Test against Pakistan, powered by a century from skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Friday.
After being put into bat, Bangladesh were off to a shaky start as Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali reduced the hosts to 31-2 with early breakthroughs.
However, Shanto and Mominul Haque steadied the inning with a composed third-wicket partnership, helping Bangladesh reach 101-2 at lunch.
The pair continued to trouble Pakistani bowlers following the lunch break, with Shanto bringing up his century before being dismissed by Mohammad Abbas, who broke the 170-run partnership.
At tea, Bangladesh were 201-3 with Mominul Haque still at the crease after helping his side recover from the early setbacks.
For Pakistan, two youngsters, Abdullah Fazal and Azan Awais, are making their Test debuts, while Babar Azam has been ruled out due to a left knee injury.
