ISLAMABAD, AUG 8 (DNA):Efforts are being made to deliberately create confusion regarding the ongoing situation in Bajaur, particularly about the local tribes and the presence of foreign-backed militants, security sources have revealed.
Providing clarity on the ground realities, security sources disclosed the following key points:
Militants Embedded Among Locals
Security sources confirmed that the outlawed elements, referred to as Khawarij (a term used for extremists and terrorists), are residing among the local population in Bajaur and are actively involved in terrorist and criminal activities.
Three-Point Proposal by KP Government
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, including the Chief Minister and top security officials, presented a three-point plan to the tribal elders in the region:
First, the removal of these foreign-backed militants—most of whom are reportedly of Afghan origin—must be ensured.
Second, if the tribes are unable to expel the militants themselves, they should temporarily vacate the area for a day or two, allowing the security forces to conduct a decisive operation.
Third, if neither option is possible, the authorities will still proceed with action against the militants, while trying their best to minimize collateral damage.
No Dialogue with Militants
Security sources categorically stated that there is no room for any negotiations with these militants or their facilitators unless they completely surrender before the state.
Tribal Jirga: A Step for Public Safety
The recently formed tribal jirga is a logical step aimed at safeguarding the lives of innocent civilians ahead of any military action, security officials added.
No Compromise with Enemies of the State
Security sources made it clear that there can be no compromise with the extremists who are enemies of both Islam and the state. Neither religion, nor the constitution, nor the brave people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa allow for any such concession.
Only the State Has Authority to Use Force
Emphasizing the importance of rule of law, the security sources reiterated that only the state has the legitimate authority to undertake armed operations.
The situation in Bajaur continues to be closely monitored, and the state remains firm in its resolve to eliminate terrorism without endangering the lives of innocent civilians.
