Foreign investment will rise after constitutional revisions.

KARACHI, OCT 23 /DNA/ – The Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President of the Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, President of All Karachi Industrial Alliance, Chairman of the FPCCI Advisory Board, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain, said on Wednesday that the approval of the 26th constitutional amendment by a two-thirds majority will benefit the country and the masses.

He said that the government and its allies deserve compliments for overcoming the uphill task aimed at national interests.

Mian Zahid Hussain said the amendment was necessary for national security, political stability, domestic and foreign investment and economic recovery.

Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s positive attitude, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s efforts, and Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s wisdom, among other leaders, resulted in the approval of this amendment.

He noted that while some evil elements were campaigning against the move, based on opposition for the sake of opposition, they failed miserably.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that these amendments will improve the judicial system and make the superior judiciary less inclined towards politics.

Since the creation of Pakistan, the judiciary has not played any significant role even though its perks and salaries are unbelievably high, while its global ranking is 140th.

He said that our justice system is not working. Hundreds of thousands of cases are pending, Pakistan ranks 140th in the judicial ranking, and thousands of companies are implicated in false tax cases worth trillions of rupees, which have not been decided for years.

He added that investors were deprived of legal protection, there was mafia rule everywhere, judicial encroachments and political goals were increasing, and the constitution was being openly violated.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that merit and seniority have been made necessary in the appointment of the Chief Justice. The parliamentary committee will take the decision because, in the present system, the parliament is the supreme decision-making authority in the country.

Apart from this, he said, constitutional benches will be formed in the Supreme Court and High Courts to decide constitutional disputes, whose judges will be determined by the Judicial Commission. The suo moto power of the Chief Justice has been withdrawn, which is a right move as it has been objected to at various times and has not benefited the people.

The need for constitutional amendments related to the judiciary has been felt for a long time. High court judges are appointed differently in different systems around the world. In Pakistan, changing procedures is not abnormal.

Mian Zahid Hussain further said that the government and the opposition should now pursue a path of balance and moderation so that the atmosphere of political crisis, chaos, and conflict ends.

After the constitutional amendments, such cases will also be heard in the courts that have not been heard for years. The impression that this amendment will reduce the powers of the Supreme Court is completely wrong; rather, this amendment will reduce the judiciary’s unnecessary burdens.

Instead of political, constitutional, and unnecessary applications and cases, the judiciary will be able to focus on giving justice to the common man, and the circus of rumours, speculations, guesses, and estimates will end.

He said the government will also amend the criminal laws, which will help make justice easier and cheaper.
