ISLAMABAD, OCT 7 /DNA/ – The 3rd meeting of the FPCCI Central Standing Committee on “Import and Export Trade” for 2026 held at the FPCCI President Secretariat in Islamabad. The high-level session was hosted by Committee Convener Mr. Tahir Rasheed Bhutta and graced by FPCCI Vice President Mr. Tariq Mehmood Jadoon.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Conveners of the Committee Mr. Syed Zulfeqar Haider and Ms. Samia Rashid, along with committee members Mr. Rukhsar Ahmad Askari, Mr. Mutafaf Wahhaj, Mr. Farrukh Ilyas, Mr. Ali Hassan, Ms. Hina Zulfiqar, Ms. Ayesha Afzal, Ms. Sumaira Naveed, Ms. Misbah, and Ms. Saima Latif and Standing Committee Convener Mr. Adil Obaid.
The forum engaged in comprehensive discussions centered on bolstering Pakistan’s external trade framework and industrial competitiveness. Key focus areas included: Deliberating on critical trade and investment policy reforms alongside enhanced import and export facilitation. Addressing industrial growth, export competitiveness, tariff rationalization, and duty adjustments. Strategizing on small and medium enterprise (SME) development, exporter support frameworks, market access expansion, and export diversification. Reviewing public-private sector coordination and tackling localized policy bottlenecks impacting trade and industry.
Mr. Tariq Mehmood Jadoon, Vice President FPCCI, highlighted the critical need for collaborative policymaking, stating: “Enhancing Pakistan’s export capacity requires a seamless synergy between the public and private sectors. We must urgently streamline tariff structures, remove policy bottlenecks, and provide robust support to our SMEs and exporters to help them thrive in competitive global markets.”
Mr. Tahir Rasheed Bhutta, Convener of the Committee, emphasized the actionable roadmap ahead for the committee, noting: “Our deliberations today focus on tangible economic solutions—from trade and investment reforms to meaningful export diversification. The committee is fully committed to forwarding actionable recommendations to steer industrial growth and secure sustainable market access for Pakistani products.”
Adding his perspective, Deputy Convener Mr. Syed Zulfeqar Haider stressed: “Strengthening our trade corridors and eliminating bureaucratic hurdles at operational levels are imperative for building investor confidence and driving sustainable volume growth across our key export sectors.”
Deputy Convener Ms. Samia Rashid further underscored the role of inclusivity, stating: “Empowering women entrepreneurs and small businesses within the mainstream export ecosystem is vital. We must ensure targeted facilitation, skill enhancement, and financial inclusion to unlock the true potential of our diverse SME landscape.”
