FPCCI President urges govt to tackle smuggling and improve tax collection

ISLAMABAD: /DNA/ – President of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, has called for a more active border management system.

He stated that smuggling hurts tax revenue and should be prevented.

Sheikh supports government measures against non-filers in the upcoming fiscal year budget.

He emphasized that tax should be collected from those not currently in the tax net.

Sheikh suggested that the tax target for the next financial year should be realistic.

He assured that the business community is ready to help increase the tax net.

He noted that the stock market’s improvement has restored investor confidence.

Foreign exchange reserves are increasing, indicating the economy is moving in the right direction.

Sheikh demanded more investor-friendly policies to strengthen the economy.

He urged that no additional burden be placed on taxpayers in the next budget.

Sheikh called for including suggestions from business community representatives and stakeholders in the budget.
