ISLAMABAD: Germany’s junior hockey team clinched the Pak-German Friendship Hockey Series, securing a 4-0 series victory after defeating Pakistan 4-1 in the last match at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad, on Thursday.
The series highlighted the German team’s exceptional skill and teamwork. From the opening whistle, the visitors showcased precision and coordination, making it difficult for the Pakistani side to mount a strong challenge.

Despite moments of resilience and spirited play from the hosts, Germany’s consistency and efficiency proved overwhelming. The visitors completed a clean sweep of the four-match series, having previously defeated Pakistan 2-1, 2-1, and 4-3 in the first three matches held in Lahore.
The series, played in both Lahore and Islamabad, marked a significant step in Pakistan’s efforts to revive international hockey and provided a valuable learning experience for the Pakistani junior team against a world-class opponent.
The final match was attended by Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Zahoor Ahmed, German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas, Director General Pakistan Sports Board Yasir Pirzada, President Pakistan Hockey Federation Tariq Hussain Bugti, Secretary Rana Mujahid, Army Sports Board Secretary Colonel Nabeel Rana, and former hockey legends Shehbaz Ahmed Senior, Khawaja Junaid, and Asif Bajwa, among others.
High Commissioners of Malaysia and Brunei also witnessed the match and lauded both teams for exhibiting excellent skills. DHM Romanian embassy Eduard Preda also joined the players of Rising Stars Hockey Club to witness the match.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary General Rana Mujahid emphasized that the support of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir is playing a key role in reviving hockey in Pakistan, and better results are expected soon.
