Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan visited the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), where he was warmly welcomed by RCCI President Usman Shaukat, Group Leader Sohail Altaf, Senior Vice President Khalid Farooq Qazi, Vice President Fahad Barlas, and other office bearers.
During the visit, the Governor inaugurated the Groundwater Recharge System within the Chamber premises and also planted a tree as part of the Green Punjab initiative. The event was attended by members of the Executive Committee, representatives of the traders’ associations, and prominent business figures including Shahid Ghafoor Pracha, Sheikh Hafeez, Arshad Awan, Tariq Waheed Butt, and others.
In his welcome address, RCCI President Usman Shaukat expressed gratitude to the Governor for his continued support and close association with the business community. He highlighted the Chamber’s initiatives and projects, including the construction of the Rawat Industrial Estate access road, development of Economic Zones along the Ring Road, and urged for the installation of Smog Towers in Rawalpindi under the Green Punjab program.
Group Leader Sohail Altaf also presented suggestions to improve the economic situation. Governor Punjab assured the business community that he would take up their issues with the relevant authorities, reaffirming that the Governor’s Office remains open for traders. He appreciated the resilience of the business community, acknowledging their role in sustaining Pakistan’s economy amid challenging circumstances.
Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that Pakistan’s stature has risen on the global stage after recent events. “It is a matter of pride that Pakistan will safeguard Makkah and Madinah under the defense agreement with Saudi Arabia. Even the U.S. President considers it an honor to meet our Field Marshal,” he added.
The Governor emphasized unity and collective efforts for the country’s progress, stating that the practice of road blockades should come to an end. He lauded the business community for investing in Pakistan despite difficult conditions, terming their contribution “highly commendable.”
At the conclusion of the ceremony, a commemorative shield was presented to the Governor of Punjab.
