ISLAMABAD, OCT 02 (DNA) — Government engineers on Monday announced countrywide protest against Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). The decision was taken at a meeting of Federal Government Engineers’ Association, which was chaired by Association President Engineer Sarfaraz Daha.
The meeting strongly condemned the efforts being made for the registration of diploma holders and B-TECH engineers with the PEC despite the fact that there existed Technologist Council for the latter.
The Association’s information secretary said that engineers played an important role in the country’s development; therefore, they should not be forced to come out on roads. Vice President Sohail Chaudhry said just like doctors and nurses could not be equal to each other, similarly B-TECH and BSE engineers are not one and the same thing.
Senior Vice President Johar Ali said that a decision had been taken to convene the meeting of representatives of all engineering associations so that the strategy could be chalked out to start protests. — DNA
