ISLAMABAD: MAY 22 (DNA):A delegation representing the cosmetics industry met with Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mr. Khalid Hussain Magsi, to discuss the challenges, issues, and opportunities faced by the sector at the national level. The delegation highlighted the lack of standardization, slow testing procedures, and barriers to exports as major obstacles hindering the growth of the industry.
Federal Minister Khalid Hussain Magsi assured the delegation that the government will extend full support to ensure the development of this sector, enabling local products to be effectively introduced in international markets. He announced the introduction of an integrated and simplified “one-window” quality assurance system to ensure the provision of high-quality products to consumers. He also emphasized that all products intended for human use will undergo strict and comprehensive testing.
The Federal Minister stated that the government is committed not only to raising product standards to international levels but also to taking practical steps for the promotion of exports. He added that Pakistani cosmetic products possess great potential, which can be showcased globally through improved policies, collaboration, and regulatory oversight. The Ministry of Science and Technology will enhance its efforts in policy-making, research and development, and strengthening linkages with the industry.
