ISLAMABAD, SEP 11 /DNA/ – The second meeting of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) for the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships for Bangladesh, Central Asian and Friendly Countries was held at the HEC Secretariat on Friday.
The meeting, chaired by Chairman HEC Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economic Affairs Division, and Planning Commission.
The committee reviewed the overall progress of the project and deliberated upon the way forward for expediting the implementation of its remaining components. The key decisions taken during the meeting include the launch of the inbound and outbound semester exchange programme and the award of scholarships to eligible applicants from Central Asian and other friendly countries.
The participants emphasised the need to conduct educational expos and awareness activities in as many friendly countries as possible to ensure maximum dissemination of information regarding scholarship opportunities available in Pakistan and to attract talented students from these countries.
The committee also discussed issues relating to visa facilitation for international students, affirming that effective coordination will be strengthened at the federal level to improve and expedite the visa issuance process for international students.
