ISLAMABAD, JUL 9: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) have agreed to jointly organize a Pharmacovigilance Awareness Session in the third week of July. This important initiative aims to strengthen regulatory awareness, promote compliance, and enhance the export potential of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector. Stakeholders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and the surrounding regions will be invited to participate.
This development took place during a visit of an ICCI delegation, led by President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, to felicitate Dr. Obaidullah on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of DRAP, and Dr. Noor Mohammad Shah on assuming the role of Director Licensing.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a collaborative framework between the regulatory authority and the business community. It was mutually agreed to regularly convene such awareness sessions to ensure improved regulatory compliance and to contribute toward the sustainable growth of the pharmaceutical sector.
Speaking on the occasion, ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi emphasized the Chamber’s continued advocacy for ease of doing business and its role as a bridge between the government and private enterprises. He said such collaborative efforts are essential for unlocking the full export potential of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry and for promoting the country as a credible and reliable supplier in global markets. He further noted, “Increased awareness of pharmacovigilance practices leads to better drug safety monitoring, which builds trust in our pharmaceutical products and this trust enhances the international appeal of our medicines and can significantly boost exports.”
In response, Dr. Obaidullah and Dr. Noor Mohammad Shah appreciated ICCI’s efforts in advocating business-friendly reforms and contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth. They assured the Chamber of DRAP’s continued support and close cooperation in upcoming joint initiatives.
The ICCI delegation also included Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry, and Executive Member Shah Faisal.
