ISLAMABAD: Acting President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Tahir Ayub, has emphasized that strong industry-academia linkages are essential to bridge the gap between market needs and academic training, particularly to empower women through skill-based education and professional development opportunities.

Talking with a group of visiting  women entrepreneurs here at Chamber House he noted that the changing dynamics of the modern economy demand a closer partnership between educational institutions and the business sector to ensure that graduates, especially women, are equipped with the practical expertise and technical competencies required in today’s job market.

Tahir Ayub highlighted that empowering women through education-based initiatives not only contributes to their individual growth but also enhances national productivity and economic resilience. He said ICCI is fully committed to promoting collaboration with universities and technical institutions to create pathways for female students to gain hands-on experience, internships, and mentorship opportunities within the industrial sector.

He stressed that special attention must be given to strengthening female participation in technical and vocational disciplines, which can significantly contribute to sustainable employment and inclusive economic development.

The Acting President further urged both public and private sector stakeholders to support education-driven empowerment programs, particularly those that align with emerging technologies, digital transformation, and innovation-led industries. He reaffirmed ICCI’s dedication to working closely with academia, government bodies, and development partners to establish platforms that enhance women’s role in Pakistan’s economic progress.

Tahir Ayub concluded that investing in women’s education and technical training is not merely a social responsibility but a strategic imperative for achieving long-term national prosperity and competitiveness in the global marketplace.
