ISLAMABAD, DEC 19 /DNA/ – A grand mega welfare ceremony was organized by Alkhidmat Foundation Islamabad at the auditorium of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), where wheelchairs, sewing machines, winter relief packages and interest-free loans were distributed among persons with disabilities and deserving families.
President ICCI, Sardar Tahir Mehmood, graced the event as Chief Guest. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman, President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, while Muhammad Altaf Sher, President Alkhidmat Foundation Islamabad, hosted the event. Tahir Ayub, Senior Vice President ICCI, and Kashif Chaudhry, President Pakistan Business Forum, attended as distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, Sardar Tahir Mehmood highly appreciated Alkhidmat Foundation’s philanthropic and humanitarian services, stating that such welfare initiatives play a pivotal role in building a compassionate and inclusive society. He said that ICCI firmly believes in corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a collective duty of the business community toward social uplift.
He highlighted that ICCI has been actively undertaking and supporting welfare activities, including assistance for underprivileged communities, skill development programs, and support for persons with disabilities, healthcare initiatives, education, and emergency relief efforts. He pledged that ICCI will continue and further strengthen its welfare and CSR-driven initiatives in collaboration with reputable charitable organizations.
The ICCI President reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to partnering with credible welfare institutions like Alkhidmat Foundation to promote self-reliance, create sustainable livelihoods, and ensure inclusive economic growth.
Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman, in his address, said that Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is serving humanity across the country without discrimination. He emphasized that providing wheelchairs and sewing machines is a vital step toward empowering persons with disabilities and skilled individuals, while interest-free loans help aspiring entrepreneurs start small businesses with dignity.
Muhammad Altaf Sher stated that Alkhidmat Foundation Islamabad is playing a proactive role in the rehabilitation of underprivileged segments of society and will continue to expand such welfare programs. He expressed gratitude to donors, volunteers, and ICCI for their valuable support.
Senior Vice President ICCI Tahir Ayub and other speakers appreciated Alkhidmat Foundation’s services and stressed that strong collaboration between the private sector and welfare organizations is essential to effectively address social challenges. During the ceremony, honorary shields were presented to individuals who rendered outstanding services in social welfare.
At the conclusion of the event, relief items were distributed among beneficiaries, while participants termed Alkhidmat Foundation’s initiative as timely, impactful, and highly commendable. Those prominent among the attendees included ICCI Executive Members, Vice Presidents Alkhidmat Foundation Islamabad Zaheer ud Din Babar, Farooq Ahmad , Secretary General Tayyab Siddiqui and others.
