ISLAMABAD, JUN 30 /DNA/ – Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), has called upon the government to foster stronger collaboration with the business community, particularly with the leadership of Chambers, to create an enabling environment for businesses by addressing the existing bottlenecks hampering economic progress.
Speaking to a delegation of visiting business leaders at the ICCI on Monday, he emphasized that long-term planning and consistent economic policies are vital to achieving the overarching goal of a stable and robust economy. He underscored the importance of broadening the tax base, ensuring the availability of electricity at affordable rates, increasing foreign direct investment (FDI), and expanding access to international capital markets to stimulate industrial and economic activity.
He further noted that the country must move away from excessive reliance on commercial debt and instead prioritize sustainable economic reforms and the growth of productive sectors. “Investor confidence can only be restored through policy consistency, transparency, and structural reforms,” Qureshi stated, adding that Pakistan has the potential to emerge as a regional hub for trade and investment through focused economic diplomacy.
Reaffirming the ICCI’s commitment, Qureshi said the Chamber stands ready to support the government in policy consultations aimed at strengthening industry, enhancing exports, and ensuring the country’s financial stability and long-term economic growth.
