ICCI president terms FBR move an ‘assault on economic stability’

ISLAMABAD, DEC 14 /DNA/ – President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood will address a press conference today ( Monday) at 4.00 p.m to announce the business community’s unanimous and unequivocal stance against the irrational, unethical, unilateral and highly exacerbating increase in the valuation of residential and commercial properties in Islamabad, by the Federal Board of Revenue through its notification dated 8 December 2025.

Earlier, an emergency meeting was convened under the chairmanship of President Sardar Tahir Mehmood.

The meeting will be attended by senior representatives of trade, industry, real estate and the construction sector, where a joint, decisive and time-bound course of action will be finalized.

It is noteworthy that the business community has strongly condemned the FBR’s move, terming it a reckless assault on economic stability.

ICCI leadership has warned that the arbitrary revision will cripple investment, paralyze the real estate and construction sectors, and severely undermine investor confidence at a time when the national economy is struggling for stability.

President Sardar Tahir Mehmood has made it categorically clear that such anti-business, revenue-driven decisions taken without consultation are unacceptable and will be resisted through all constitutional and democratic means unless immediately withdrawn.=DNA
