ISLAMABAD, Mar 29: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police detained 221 suspicious individuals, including 21 Afghan nationals, during 48 grand combing and search operations conducted across the federal capital during the ongoing week.
An official told APP on Sunday that the operations were carried out under the supervision of zonal Superintendents of Police in different areas of the city.
He said lady police officials also participated in the search operations to ensure effective checking.
He said during the operations, 4,188 individuals and 1,829 households were checked, while 548 shops and 93 hotels were also inspected.
He added that 1,588 motorcycles and 646 vehicles were checked during the drive, while 221 suspicious individuals, 133 motorcycles and five vehicles were shifted to relevant police stations for further verification.
He said that during the operations, suspects involved in illegal possession of weapons were also arrested and weapons with ammunition were recovered from them.
The official said the operations were conducted on the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to eliminate crime and ensure safety of citizens across the district.
He urged citizens to cooperate with police during checking and immediately report any suspicious activity.
