ISLAMABAD, Mar 08 (DNA): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi chaired an Operational Commanders’ Conference to review the law and order situation in the federal capital and issued directions to ensure foolproof security during the last ten days of Ramazan, including Aitikaf and the sacred nights, besides ordering action against transporters overcharging passengers.
An official told APP on Sunday that the conference was attended by all DIGs, AIGs, SSPs and other senior officers of Islamabad Police.
He said the meeting reviewed in detail the overall law and order and security situation in the federal capital.
The IGP Rizvi directed officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements during the last ten days of Ramazan, particularly during Aitikaf and the sacred nights, and ordered that security at Masajid and Imambargahs across the city be further strengthened.
He also instructed officials to ensure effective security and proper parking arrangements in markets and commercial centres to facilitate citizens during the busy Ramazan period.
The IGP further directed that security at all bus terminals be tightened and a crackdown be launched against transporters overcharging passengers.
IGP Rizvi reiterated that Islamabad Police were utilizing all available resources to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property and maintain peace and order in the federal capital.
