LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan chaired on Thursday a meeting of the central leadership to raise his voice against the arrest of his stalwarts.

The highlight of the meeting was making strategy over the possible arrests of the PTI leaders. In the huddle, the political situation and the party’s future strategy were also underscored. The PTI bigwigs expressed their reservations over “the attitude of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).”

The meeting also discussed developing a strategy to deal with “the ECP’s delay in announcing election dates.”

Fawad Chaudhry, a former federal minister, was arrested from his Lahore residence in the wee hours of Wednesday after he publicly “threatened” the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and their families in a media talk a day earlier. He was then taken to Islamabad, where the capital’s police were granted a two-day remand of the PTI leader in the sedition case. His arrest drew strong criticism within the federal government’s ranks — which, although, has denied involvement.
