TEHRAN, — Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei has confirmed that a key regional meeting on Afghanistan will take place in Tehran next week, bringing together special envoys from neighboring and regional countries to discuss the evolving situation in Afghanistan and broader regional stability.
Speaking to reporters, Baqaei said the planned meeting reflects the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ongoing consultations with neighboring states, including Pakistan and Afghanistan, aimed at strengthening peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
“Iran attaches fundamental importance to security and stability in its neighborhood and will spare no effort to help reduce tensions between regional countries and enhance mutual understanding,” the Spokesperson stated. He emphasized that the upcoming gathering is the outcome of extensive consultations held at multiple levels with regional partners.
Baqaei expressed hope that the initiative will serve as an effective platform for fostering convergence and addressing regional challenges, particularly those linked to Afghanistan’s current political and security landscape.
The meeting—hosted by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs—will bring together special representatives for Afghan affairs from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, China, and Russia.
The regional dialogue is expected to focus on coordinated efforts to promote stability, humanitarian support, and collective strategies to address shared security concerns.
