Iran's Pezeshkian thanks Saudi Arabia's MBS for exceptional Hajj services

Tehran, JUN 6: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call on Thursday from Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, during which the two leaders exchanged Eid Al-Adha greetings and discussed regional cooperation.

During the call, Pezeshkian thanked Saudi Arabia for its tireless efforts and distinguished services provided to Hajj pilgrims. He congratulated the Crown Prince on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha. On his part, the Crown Prince also greeted him on this blessed occasion of Eid.

President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its “tireless efforts and distinguished services” provided to pilgrims during the Hajj season. He praised the Saudi government’s effective organization of the pilgrimage and the care extended to pilgrims at the holy sites, according to reports from the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Iran’s state news agency IRNA also confirmed the call, quoting President Pezeshkian as commending the “hard work of the Saudi government” in ensuring the smooth and safe execution of Hajj rituals for worshippers from across the globe.

During the conversation, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman thanked the Iranian president for his kind words and extended his own Eid Al-Adha greetings.

President Pezeshkian further emphasized Iran’s readiness to strengthen ties with all Muslim countries — particularly with Saudi Arabia — and expressed hope for increased cooperation and unity in the Islamic world.

The phone call comes amid ongoing efforts to normalize and rebuild relations between Riyadh and Tehran, following a China-brokered agreement in 2023 that restored diplomatic ties between the two regional powers.
