ISLAMABAD. The Ambassador of the Philippines and Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad, H.E. Maria Agnes M. Cervantes, presided her concluding ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) Heads of Mission meeting at the Faisalabad Meeting Room Serena Hotel. During the meeting, the ACI Chairmanship was also turned over to H.E. Pg Kamal Bashah Pg Ahmad, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam.
Ambassador Cervantes, in her closing remarks, thanked all members of the ACI for their cooperation in making her term successful by involving in activities that promote public and economic diplomacy for all ASEAN members. She added that the increased visibility of ASEAN is attributed to the active participation of all ACI Members and looks forward to Brunei’s Chairmanship.
The meeting also served as the sendoff meeting of the ACI to Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong of Vietnam who is ending his more than three-year tour of duty in Islamabad. Also in the meeting were the High Commissioner of Malaysia H.E. Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Charge d’Affaires of Myanmar Mr. Aung Kyaw Thuya, Charge d’Affaires of Indonesia Mr. Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, the Charge d’Affaires of Thailand Ms. Kamolwan Sriposil and representatives from various the diplomatic missions in Islamabad.
