Islamabad police starts anti-drug drive: IGP

ISLAMABAD, (DNA): Islamabad Police has kick started special crackdown against drug mafia, proclaimed offenders, beggars and other criminals and 18 culprits including 07 drug peddlers were arrested during  this campaign, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

He said that, on special orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Aamir Zulfqar Khan, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqar Ud Din had issued these directions to all zonal officers.

During last 24 hours, Islamabad police accelerated their efforts and 19 criminals were arrested during this campaign.

According to details, Nilore police during interrogation of cases and special checking has recovered four pistols with ammunition and 20 litres wine from four culprits namely Majid Jahangir, Sifarish, Subhan

CIA police during special checking in sector G-7 arrested drug pusher namely Attiq ur Rehman and recovered 350 gram hashish, 15 gram heroine and 10 gram ice. Abpara police arrested a bootlegger namely Ayub Yousuf and recovered 10 liter wine during special checking.

Bhara Kahu has recovered two pistols with ammunition from culprits Habib Javed and Muhammad Mudassir arrested during checking. Bani Gala police has arrested four professional beggars. Golra police has arrested a drug peddler Muhammad Mazhar and recovered 280 gram hashish.

Tarnol police has arrested drug peddler Faizan Jahangir and recovered 150 gram heroine, while police also arrested two beggars.

Industrial Area police has arrested a bootlegger namely Rizwan haider and recovered 10 liters wine. Cases have been registered against all nominated accused and further investigation is underway from them.

Furthermore, during special checking in the whole city, police checked 223 vehicles, 631 motorcycles, 230 persons and 182 motorcycles without documents were shifted in different police stations.

DIG (Operations) Islamabad Waqar Uddin Syed has said that these social evils would be curbed and those backing those drug peddlers and professional beggars would be dealt with  iron hands. He further emphasized that this campaign would be continued until elimination of those social criminals.=DNA
