ISSI Hosts Delegation of Pakistan Academy of Letters’ Writers Residency Program

ISLAMABAD, JAN 22 /DNA/: The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) hosted a delegation from the Pakistan Academy of Letters under its ‘Writers Residency Program’ on 22 January 2026. The visit brought together writers, poets, and scholars from across Pakistan for an exchange of views aimed at promoting intellectual dialogue on key national, regional, and global issues. The delegation was led by Dr. Bibi Ameena, Deputy Director, Pakistan Academy of Letters. The interaction reflected a shared commitment to strengthening engagement between research and literary communities to deepen understanding of Pakistan’s evolving internal and external challenges.

Dr. Talat Shabbir, Director China-Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC), ISSI, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on ISSI’s mandate, organizational structure, and major research areas. He highlighted the ISSI’s pivotal role in producing policy-oriented research on strategic affairs, foreign policy, political economy and non-traditional security challenges. Dr. Talat Shabbir also shared perspectives on contemporary international developments, including the transition towards a multipolar global order and its implications for regional stability and Pakistan’s foreign policy. The discussion, followed by an interactive exchange of ideas, underscored the importance of inclusive development, informed policymaking and sustained research collaboration, while also emphasizing the potential for future cooperation between ISSI and the Pakistan Academy of Letters.

The event concluded with the presentation of ISSI memento and Institute’s recent publications to Dr. Bibi Ameena and a group photograph.
