Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) Ali Raza Syed expressed his deepest condolences on the death of prominent Kashmiri figure Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl.
Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl 77, who was a strong global voice for the Kashmir cause, passed away after a brief illness in London yesterday.
Expressing deepest condolences on demise of Prof. Shawl, Chair of KCEU said, his passing has come as a great loss for the people of occupied Kashmir, Azad Kashmir and Kashmiris based in other parts of the world.
In a condolence statement issued from Brussels, Ali Raza Syed said, as one of the true pioneers in the Kashmir’s Movement, he was widely regarded as a gem of knowledge and a stalwart in the pursuit of the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chair of KCEU said, having many qualities, Prof. Shawl was a multitalented; an educationist, an author, a human rights defender and a political thinker. People of Jammu and Kashmir will not forget his invaluable role as an advocate of their right to self-determination. He would be remembered forever for his matchless sacrifices for the Kashmir cause.
Ali Raza Syed prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant patience to the bereaved family members to bear this loss.
The statement of Kashmir Council Europe said, the council would hold a condolence reference in order to express rich tribute to Professor Nazir Shawl. The event would be organized at Kashmir Council Europe Secretariat in Brussels, the capital of Belgium on Sunday, 31st December 2023.
