Khamenei can face same fate as Saddam: Israeli defence minister

Israel Katz warns that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei could meet the same end as Saddam Hussein, the leader of Iraq who was ousted and executed after the 2003 US-led invasion of his country.

“I warn the Iranian dictator against continuing to commit war crimes and launching missiles at Israeli civilians,” Katz said, according to local media.

Officials in Iran said dozens of Iranian civilians have been killed since Israel began launching attacks on the country on Friday.

“He [Khamenei] would do well to remember the fate of the dictator in the country neighbouring Iran who chose this same path against the state of Israel,” Katz added.

“We will continue today as well to act against regime and military targets in Tehran,” Katz added, repeating Israeli threats for residents to leave Tehran.

Iran blasts G7 for ignoring Israel’s ‘cruel aggression’
Iran has strongly criticised G7 leaders for what it calls a failure to address Israel’s “blatant aggression” during their recent summit in Canada, accusing the group of turning a blind eye to civilian suffering and violations of international law.

Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the summit’s joint statement, which called for de-escalation while reaffirming Israel’s right to self-defense. He accused G7 member states—particularly the three permanent members of the UN Security Council—of neglecting their legal and moral responsibilities.

“The G7 member states must assume their legal and moral responsibility for this blatant act of aggression against a UN member state,” Baghaei said in a social media post.

He added that Iran has been subjected to repeated attacks, saying: “Hundreds of innocent people have been killed, our public and state facilities and people’s homes are brutally demolished, and hospitals and health centers are targeted.”

Baghaei emphasized that Iran is acting in self-defense and questioned whether the country had any other choice under the circumstances. “Stability in the region will only come after an immediate end to Israel’s aggression,” he asserted.

The statement reflects growing frustration in Tehran over what it sees as Western bias in the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

Iran recalls all doctors and nurses amid escalating conflict
As tensions with Israel intensify, Iran’s Ministry of Health has cancelled all leave for medical personnel, ordering doctors and nurses to report back to their posts immediately.

Deputy Health Minister for Treatment, Seyed Sajjad Razavi, announced the directive, emphasizing that medical professionals are not only essential for providing care but also for maintaining the morale and psychological resilience of healthcare teams during this critical time.

“All leave for doctors and nurses has been cancelled, and they have been asked to be continuously present at medical centres,” Razavi said, according to state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency.

He reassured medical workers of full institutional backing, stating, “The Ministry of Health stands with you and is ready to provide support and assistance should any need arise.”

In preparation for potential mass-casualty incidents, the ministry has also distributed specialized treatment guides to hospitals and medical universities across the country.

The move underscores Iran’s readiness to manage large-scale emergencies as the Israel-Iran conflict enters a more volatile phase.
