PESHAWAR, Apr 01: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has taken notice of the tragic mining accident in Rustam area of Mardan and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious human lives.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred during mining operations in the Nangabad area, where a blast triggered a landslide, causing a mine collapse that buried several labourers under debris. Rescue officials said around 12 to 14 workers were trapped, while nine were later confirmed dead and three others injured after being pulled from the rubble.
The CM extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, praying for eternal peace for the departed souls and patience for the heirs.
He directed authorities to ensure immediate and effective medical treatment for the injured and expressed best wishes for their early recovery.
He also instructed the district administration and rescue agencies to expedite the ongoing rescue operation and ensure provision of all possible facilities to the affected individuals.
