KP govt imposes emergency in nine flood-hit districts

Peshawar, AUG 16: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-led government has imposed emergency in the nine flood-hit districts. According to details surfaced on Saturday, emergency would be imposed in Swat, Buner, Bajaur, Torghar, Manshera, Shangla, Dir Lower, Battagram. The communique said that emergency would be imposed till August 31 for providing relief to the flood-stricken population.

– Citizens lament in Swat –

On the other side, the citizens in Swat lamented, “Nobody came to help and the rehabilitation is merely limited to the photo session.”

– Pakistan Army launches rescue operations –

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army has launched the “Flood Relief Operation”. The rescue operations were being conducted in the flood-hit districts.

– CM Gandapur chairs key meeting –

Separately, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has chaired a meeting to review the situation following inclement weather. Prominent among those who attended the meeting were the chief secretary, concerned administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and PDMA officials.

The meeting highlighted the losses that occurred due to the torrential rainfall and flash floods, reviewing the relief and rescue operations in the flood-hit districts.

– NDMA teams reach KP on the PM’s instructions –

Furthermore, the NDMA rescue teams have reached Peshawar on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The provincial government is being provided with relief aid.
