Kyrgyz President's visit to open new chapter of economic ties

LAHORE, Dec 07 (APP/DNA): Honorary Consul Kyrgyzstan Meher Kashif Younis said on Sunday that results-oriented and successful visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to Pakistan is set to open a new chapter of economic cooperation between the two brotherly Muslim countries.

Talking to media here at Kyrgyz Consulate, he said the visit has laid a strong foundation for scaling up bilateral trade from the existing 15 million dollars to nearly 200 million dollars within next two years, reflecting a renewed commitment to deepen regional connectivity, commercial partnerships, and strategic collaboration.

Pak-Kyrgyz have agreed to accelerate progress on multiple fronts, including energy cooperation, education,textile and pharmaceutical trade, industrial linkages, agriculture, and digital transformation, he mentioned.

Meher Kashif said, President Japarov’s engagements with Pakistan’s top leadership were marked by mutual trust and a shared vision for regional prosperity, especially through enhanced transport corridors to facilitate businessmen on both sides.He further stated that Kyrgyzstan, being strategically located in Central Asia, offers Pakistan a gateway to untapped markets, while Pakistan provides a significant export base for Kyrgyz industries. He maintained that strengthening business-to-business exchanges through joint business councils, promoting tourism, and advancing cultural cooperation would further reinforce long-term ties including collaboration,investment,logistics,bilateral trade.

Meher Kashif, who was also part of joint business forum meetings in Islamabad, said that agreements and 15 MoUs signed in diversified sectors during the visit, will help unleash new opportunities for joint ventures, technology transfer, and capacity building.

Kyrgyzstan Ambassador to Pakistan Kylychbek Sultan contributed a great role in this visit by closely establishing constant liaison with either sides.

He said that warm welcome and hospitality by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif including offering seaports access to Kyrgyz exporters for global markets and positive momentum generated by President Japarov’s visit will transform bilateral relations into a more dynamic, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnership, paving the way for greater regional integration and shared economic growth.
