Lukashenko greets Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on re-election as president of Uganda

MINSK, JAN 23: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on his re-election as President of Uganda, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“The popular vote has confirmed your great authority and the support for the development path you have chosen for the country,” the congratulatory message reads.

The head of state noted that Minsk views Kampala as a reliable partner on the African continent and highlighted the progressive development of relations between the two countries. The president expressed confidence that through joint efforts, it will be possible to impart strong momentum to bilateral cooperation.

“I consider it of fundamental importance to launch the Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation and to hold its first meeting in the near future. I am convinced that the work of this mechanism will contribute to concrete results in the interests of the two states, including the implementation of projects in agricultural mechanization, food security, industrial cooperation, personnel training, and other sectors,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Yoweri Kaguta Museveni health and success in his responsible position, and the people of Uganda – prosperity and harmony under his fruitful leadership.
