ISLAMABAD, JUL 9: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a reduction in power tariffs for July, in a major relief for electricity consumers benefiting millions of households across the country.
According to the official notification issued on Wednesday, the electricity tariff for consumers of government-owned distribution companies (DISCOs) has been reduced by 50 paisa per unit, while consumers in Karachi served by K-Electric will see a significant Rs4.34 per unit reduction in their bills.
The revised tariffs will be reflected in July electricity bills.
NEPRA has issued notifications for a reduction in electricity prices as part of the monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA). Electricity prices have been reduced for K-Electric consumers for the month of April 2025, while a reduction has also been approved for consumers of government distribution companies (DISCOs) for May 2025.
K-Electric had requested NEPRA to reduce the tariff by Rs4.60 per unit under the FCA mechanism. NEPRA reserved its decision after conducting hearings on the applications submitted by both K-Electric and the DISCOs.
