ISLAMABAD, Aug 9: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Sunday termed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement a significant step towards unity among the Muslim Ummah and lasting peace in the region.
Talking to the media, the minister said the historic agreement would open new avenues for peace, unity, and cooperation among Muslim countries.
She said the Makkah Agreement would serve as a new source of hope for unity, trust, and shared peace for future generations.
Shaza Fatima paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for their leadership in reaching the agreement.
“Visionary leadership brings nations closer and opens new avenues for peace,” she said.
The federal minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their efforts.
She said the efforts of Pakistan’s political and military leadership had strengthened the country’s standing as a champion of peace at the global level.
Shaza Fatima said that under the Makkah Agreement, an attack on any one member country would be considered an attack on all member countries.
She said the agreement had created a new wave of unity, resolve, and hope among the Muslim Ummah.
