ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Manesha Ali produced a stunning performance at the IMMAF World Cup in Angola, defeating the host nation’s two-time African champion to win the gold medal and raise the national flag on the international stage.
Hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan and training at BRAVE Gym Lahore, Manesha delivered a commanding performance in the final against the Angolan champion on her home ground. She secured victory in the second round with a standing guillotine, completing an impressive finish to claim the gold medal for Pakistan.
The IMMAF World Cup featured 15 top-ranked teams, with Pakistan competing against some of the leading nations in international mixed martial arts. Manesha’s victory over the highly accomplished Angolan fighter on home soil marked a significant achievement for Pakistan’s MMA programme and highlighted the growing presence of Pakistani fighters on the international stage.
Her gold-medal triumph also provided a major boost to women’s MMA in Pakistan, with the Gilgit-Baltistan-born fighter emerging as the country’s latest international combat-sports success story.
