Maryam Nawaz refuses to accept AJK poll results

LAHORE, JUL 26 (DNA) – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has out rightly refused to accept the results of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly polls as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sweeps the elections.

Taking to Twitter, PML-N Vice-President said that her party fought hard but it is not easy to deal with fraud. “I have not accepted the results and will not. I have not even acknowledged the results of this fake government. Congratulations to the workers and voters. What will be the course of action on this shameless fraud, the party will decide soon, God willing,” Maryam tweeted.

“PML-N has fought a very good election, has fought hard. It is not easy to deal with all the centers of state and power and fraud. I would like to commend all the voters and workers of PML-N for their courage and bravery. I am very proud of them,” she said in a subsequent tweet.

On the other hand, Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said that his party has emerged as largest opposition party in Azad Kashmir despite irregularities.

Bilawal Bhutto, in a tweet, said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) resorted to violence and rigging in the elections and Election Commission failed to take action against PTI for violating electoral rules.

Bilawal also lauded PPP Azad Kashmir team and said that he is incredibly proud of them for putting up a good fight and securing 3 more seats from last time. It merits mention that PTI has emerged as single largest party in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA) elections by grabbing 25 seats.

PPP bagged 11 seats and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured 6 seats. Muslim Conference (MC) and Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party (JK PP) grabbed one seat each. The result of LA 16 – Bagh III constituency has not been announced yet.

A total of 587 candidates were contesting the elections in 33 constituencies of Azad Kashmir districts and 121 candidates on 12 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in Pakistan. = DNA
