Rawalpindi, NOV 7 /DNA/ – A detailed briefing was given by Urban Unit Lahore on the establishment of wholesale market and industrial zones in the proposed economic zones on Ring Road at Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). Nader Ali and Imran Shah from the Urban Unit gave a detailed presentation to RCCI members and apprised that the site plan prepared for Rawalpindi is aimed at the promotion of business activities in the area to create employment opportunities.
The vertical spread of buildings will be discouraged and high-rise buildings will be promoted in the project so that dense population can be avoided when the city expands, they informed.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chatta, DGRDA Saif Anwar Jhapa and Ms. Nazia Director Development and Finance also participated in the briefing.
RCCI President Saqib Rafiq, Group Leader Sohail Altaf, Senior Vice President Muhammad Hamza Sarosh, Vice President Faisal Shahzad, former presidents, executive committee members, Small Chamber and Small Industry President Tariq Jadoon, cottage industry representatives and a large number of Chamber members were also present on the occasion.
Rawalpindi Chamber demanded the commissioner to immediately impose Section IV to control prices in the proposed Ring Road Industrial Zones.
President Saqib Rafiq said that RCCI arranged this briefing aimed at to involve key stakeholders to seek suggestions about the proposed industrial zone at the Ring Road site.
Representatives of various sectors, especially cottage industry, shoe market, plastic, transport, goods forwarding, heavy machinery, marble, steel, Gems & jewellery, grain market, furniture, education, mining and others asked the commissioner questions regarding their respective sectors.
