Mymensingh-3: Voting at suspended centre on Saturday

DHAKA, JAN 12: Voting at a centre in the Mymensingh-3 constituency, which was suspended due to election irregularities, will be held on Saturday.

Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Didar-E-Alam Mohammad Maksud Chowdhury said: “The administration has taken all preparations to hold the election peacefully. Voting will start at 8am and continue uninterrupted until 4pm. A large number of law enforcement forces will be deployed. Voters will be able to exercise their voting rights without any hindrance and return home safely.”

On Sunday, the local administration suspended voting at Bhalukpur High School centre in Shabanhati of Gauripur upazila due to election irregularities. Later, the Election Commission fixed January 13 as the date of the election.

The Awami League nominated candidate Nilufar Anjum bagged 53,196 votes, while her nearest rival, Somnath Saha with the Truck symbol, received 52,211 votes. A total of nine candidates are competing in this constituency.
