NA Heritage Committee Chair Syeda Nosheen Meets Minister Aurangzeb Khichi

ISLAMABAD: AUG 20 (DNA):Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on National Heritage and Culture, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, called on Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, here in his Office Islamabad.

During the meeting, matters related to the preservation and promotion of Pakistan’s cultural heritage were discussed in detail.

The Federal Minister congratulated Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar on assuming her new responsibilities and appreciated her commitment and dedication. He assured that the Ministry would extend complete cooperation to the Committee at all levels. “Our culture and heritage span centuries, and their preservation and promotion remain my foremost priority,” he said.

Mr. Khichi emphasized that the attached institutions of the Ministry are not profit-oriented but exist to pass on cultural legacy to future generations and raise public awareness. He reiterated that organizations linked with Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal are part of Pakistan’s national identity and, as per the directives of the Prime Minister, will never be abolished.

The Minister also briefed the Chairperson on the performance and ongoing projects of the Ministry’s institutions, adding that the Ministry will actively support the Committee in all its meetings. He further noted that after the 18th Constitutional Amendment, most cultural institutions had been devolved to the provinces.

Chairperson Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar expressed the need for further improvement in the performance of cultural institutions. She remarked, “It is an honor to work alongside you and to learn in a positive environment. I have assumed this responsibility on the Prime Minister’s wish, as he attaches special attention to this sector.”

It was agreed that all subsidiary organizations of the Ministry would provide detailed briefings to the Chairperson in due course.

Secretary National Heritage and Culture, Asad Rehman Gillani, was also present in the meeting.
