NEPRA to hold public hearing on overbilling, other complaints

ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (DNA): National Electric Power Regulatory Authority
(NEPRA) has decided to hold a public hearing on the matter of
overbilling and consumers’ complaints from various electricity
distribution companies.

In order to sort out the overbilling and other consumers’ complaints,
the authority will hold a public hearing on the billing issue on
September 30.

Earlier, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar took notice of overbilling and
ordered an inquiry into the matter.

According to bills reviewed by the concerned people, Karachi’s
K-Electric (KE), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Hyderabad
Electric Supply Company (HESCO), Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO),
Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), and the Sukkur Electric Power
Company (SEPCO) have billed their customers for more than the allowed 31
days in one month on more than one occasion.

Sources said bills were sent on the basis of 37-days instead of the
scheduled 31 days. DNA
