Pehsawar, AUG 1: A new polio case has been confirmed in district Tank, as the National Institute of Health (NIH) verifies the presence of the poliovirus in a 10-month-old child, bringing the total number of polio cases across the country to 18 this year.
In response, the National Polio Emergency Operations Centre has developed a new action plan specifically for South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where access challenges have continued to hinder vaccination campaigns.
Officials say efforts are being intensified to overcome logistical barriers and improve the quality of immunisation drives in high-risk areas. The centre reiterated its commitment to eliminating polio through sustained efforts and targeted interventions in vulnerable regions.
